St. Albans and South Jamaica are predominantly Black middle-class neighborhoods in southeastern Queens with a long history as an enclave for African-American professionals. Addisleigh Park - a historic district within St. Albans - was home to Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, and other jazz greats. Roy Wilkins Recreation Center serves as the community's main public gathering space.
